OUR HISTORY :

The existing institutions could not impart education in the field of Commerce. This became the main reason for students to leave the city which caused many inconveniences and unnecessary expenditure. With extraordinary foresight for the potential of commerce education the famous educational institution of Wardha, “Shiskha Mandal” diligently pursued the establishing of a Commerce College. With the benevolent charity of the famous industrialist Seth Govindram Seksaria the dream was realised  in 1942 with the establishment of G.S. College in 1940 at Wardha, in 1945 at Nagpur and in 1948 at Jabalpur.

PHILOSOPHY OF SHIKSHA MANDAL:

Deeply influenced by the Gandhian Philosophy of Truth, Non-Violence and Discipline, Shiksha Mandal has adhered to the principles laid down by the late Mahatma Gandhi. His seven social sins have helped us to surge ahead in the field of education and development.

  1. Politics without Principles
  2. Wealth Without Work
  3. Pleasure Without Conscience
  4. Knowledge Without Character
  5. Commerce Without Morality
  6. Science Without Humanity
  7. Worship Without Sacrifice

LEVEL OF EDUCATION :

The College is the largest center for commerce education in Madhya Pradesh. Following the norms of Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur, the College imparts education in the field of commerce – B.Com., B.B.A., B.C.A., B.Ed., M.Com., B.com (Hon), M.com (HRA), M. A. (Economics) and Management

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION :

Keeping in view the requirement and conveniences of the students, separate Hindi and English Medium Classes have been arranged.

STAFF :

From the beginning the College has received the services of experienced, qualified and potentially capable teachers. The teaching staff responsibly and industriously encourages the students to follow the Gandhian principle of “Simple living, High Thinking”. All Professors have been awarded Ph.D degrees in their respective subjects. About 100 students have received guidance for research and have been awarded the Ph. D Degree. At present approximately 68 research students are being supervised by our Staff Members.

PARENT INSTITUTE

SHIKSHA MANDAL, WARDHA

Shiksha Mandal” the renowned national education society, was established in 1914 at Wardha (Maharashtra) by Seth Jamnalal Bajaj and Shri Shrikrishan Jajoo with the twin objectives of spreading nationalistic ideas and education among the youth. During Shiskha Mandal’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1937, a national seminar on education was convened under the chairmanship of Mahatma Gandhi. All top national leaders and educationists attended it. It was with the initiative of Acharya Shrimannarayanji Agrawal (who later became a member of the planning Commission, Indian Ambassador to Nepal and Governor of Gujarat) and a generous donation by Seth Govindram Seksaria that G.S.
